Before You Arrive: Preparing for Your Visit

Before your visit, you may complete a new patient medical and dental history form online, or fill it out when you arrive. This allows us to get to know your health background and tailor your care from day one.

What Happens During Your First Visit?

Your first dental appointment includes a comprehensive clinical exam where we check your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw joints, take digital X-rays as needed, and complete a periodontal (gum) assessment and oral cancer screening. We will work with you to create a personalized care plan based on our assessment and your individual needs. For routine check-ups and cleanings, our hygienist will remove plaque and tartar build-up, polish your teeth, and may apply fluoride if recommended. We use low-radiation digital X-rays to spot any issues between teeth or under the gumline that can't be seen in a visual exam. A typical family visit includes a full exam, teeth cleaning, and oral cancer screening as part of the regular checkup. Most first dental visits take about 45 minutes to an hour from start to finish.

A Gentle Start for Children

For children, our approach is extra gentle and designed to make their first visit brief, friendly, and comfortable, sometimes deferring a cleaning to a later visit to build trust and ease. Children's first appointments typically include a visual exam, behaviour assessment, and possible X-rays, with the focus on helping the child feel at ease. We advise parents to bring their child for their first dental exam by the first tooth or first birthday, whichever comes first.

Personalized Care for All Ages

Each visit is tailored to the unique needs of every family member, taking into account their stage of life. We will watch for age-related dental concerns in older adults and build positive dental habits for young children from the start.

Handling Emergencies and Flexible Options

We offer same-day emergency appointments and complimentary emergency phone assessments to help determine next steps for urgent dental concerns. You can expect supportive, efficient care if you face any urgent issue, and our doors are open seven days a week.

Transparent Fees and Insurance Support

We follow the recommended Alberta Dental Association fee guide for transparent and fair pricing. Direct billing to most major Alberta insurance providers is available, including support for CDCP and NIHB dental care programmes.

Your Path to Lifelong Dental Health

We look forward to welcoming you and helping you build lifelong dental health. Our focus is to help every patient, new or returning, feel heard, comfortable, and confident about their dental care in NW Calgary.
